what a beautiful Betta fish ! Have no idea about the origins of the name....hoping it has something to do with Lord of the Rings!?! but know it doesn't it just sounds like a character from the books

Looks like a combination of Dagon & idol. Dagon meaning "fish" was an idol of the Philistines.
